An extra special service was held at St Finnbarr’s Episcopal Church in Dornoch on Sunday.

The service of choral evensong, led by Most Reverend Mark Strange, bishop of Moray, Ross and Caithness, was enjoyed by a congregation from far and wide.

During the course of the service, Rev Simon Scott was licensed as priest in charge at St Finnbarr’s and Rev Lizzie Campbell was issued with a warrant as assistant priest in Sutherland and Tain.

In his address Bishop Mark thanked everyone for keeping going over the last 18 months and for caring for one another.

He said it was lovely to be back in St Finnbarr’s and to enjoy his first service of choral evensong since March 2020.

Superb singing was provided by a choir of four (including Simon and Lizzie) and the congregation also were in fine voice during the hymns.

Rev James Currall, priest in charge of congregations at Tain, Brora, Lairg and Tongue, said: “Suffice to say that a good time was had by all and we all look forward to another evensong in the not too distant future.”
