Community-spirited coastguard members and volunteers helped to make a picturesque beach look even more unspoilt after cleaning litter from the sands.

Melness Coastguard members and community volunteers filled bags full of rubbish during a beach clean at Coldbackie.

"As part of our local knowledge patrol, we took some time to do a beach clean at Coldbackie beach, managing to fill seven bin bags full of rubbish," said a coastguard spokesman.

"Melness team volunteer our time to do this across local beaches every year, with Highland Council providing bin bags and taking delivery of the rubbish.

"Big thanks to all involved, we even had a few little helpers assisting us."
