BDMLR teaches life-saving skills to Highland volunteers at ‘fantastic’ Clachtoll Beach training day
BDMLR volunteers learnt life-saving skills at a “fantastic” training day at Clachtoll Beach, which saw “stunning weather” and volunteers from across the Highlands taking part.
Established in 1998, British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) is a frontline marine mammal response charity. It uses a network of trained volunteers arcoss the country to respond to marine mammals potentially in need of assistance, via a public 24-hour hotline.
Wester Ross BDMLR said: “We had a fantastic training day on Saturday at Clachtoll, the weather was stunning and we trained 13 new medics for the Wester Ross and north-west area. We also had a few others that had travelled over from the East Coast and will be joining the Caithness and Inverness teams! Thank you to Sara, James and Colin for coming up to run the course, and to Wester Ross medic Karen for helping and taking photos.
“Our Area Coordinator Donna was also very grateful for the warm, dry, sunny weather for cleaning down the kit after the training!
“It made the job much easier than it was after last year’s course when her work building had to be turned into a BDMLR laundrette for a week due to the cold and rain
“If you would like to join BDMLR and learn how to help Marine Animals there are still courses available this year visit bdmlr.org.uk/course to find your closest course.”
