Organisers of the Highland Creative Food, Drink and Craft Fayre believe it taps into a new desire to seek out local produce.

The event will run next Saturday (September 4) from 10am to 4pm at Dingwall and Highland Marts and parking at the site will be free, though a regular shuttle bus will also run between the mart and the town centre.

Admission is free and the event will also be supporting Highland Hospice.

Those attending can look forward to sampling a range of cocktails, beer, gin and rum along with fresh food.

There will also be children’s entertainment and local buskers providing live music.

The event is being sponsored by Ark Estates, Highland Food and Drink Club, MacNeil Coaches, and Dingwall and Highland Marts.

John Murray, of Highland Food and Drink Club, hopes it will lay down a foundation for an annual food and drink celebration of the Highlands that will help the sector to grow.

He said: “The pandemic has seen a shift more towards local food and drink and this event hopes to allow the public to come along and try products and buy local.”

Grant MacPherson, managing director of Dingwall and Highland Marts, said he hoped the event would be the first of many.

“Our key ethos is keeping it local and green miles,” he said. “This is a great opportunity for people to get their local produce or wares showcased at a local event.”

There is still some availability left for vendors, with event organisers contactable on nhe@mail.com
