The move is bitterly opposed by neighbouring landowners, chief among whom are Assynt Crofters' Trust.

And the Scottish Gamekeepers Association is backing a call for the licence to be suspended.

Now the trust has revealed it has lodged two complaints against both JMT and NatureScot in relation to the authorisation.

The trust said in a statement issued today: “Assnyt Crofters Trust has made a complaint to the Environmental Standards Authority and OSCR (Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator) about the recent actions by NatureScot and JMT in Assynt."

The crofters have also made a Freedom of Information (FOI) to NatureScot concerning the granting of the out of season licence.
