Assynt businesses dig deep for Lochinver lifeboat fundraiser

Organisers of a fundraising event in aid of Lochinver lifeboat say they are "overwhelmed" by the support shown by local businesses.

Businesses in the port have dug deep to contribute “amazing” prizes for a raffle, being held as part of a fundraising afternoon.

The event takes place at in the net shed beside the lifeboat station at the harbour on Sunday, July 24, from 12.30pm-3.30pm.

There will be a tombola, souvenir and cake stall as well as children’s stalls. Tea and coffee will be on offer and a barbecue is being held.

Activities include cup cake decorating and there will also be the chance to win a £50 note.

Anyone thinking about going to the afternoon should note that it is cash only.

Prizes on offer in the raffle include a £100 voucher from the Kylesku Hotel, a voucher for six pies from Lochinver Larder, a 90-minute wildlife trip for two from North Sea Tours and the hire of two paddle boards for a day from Assynt Paddle Board Hire.

Karen Stewart, of the Lochinver RNLI Lifeboat Ladies Fundraising Guild, posted: “We have been overwhelmed by the amazing raffle prizes that so many local businesses have very kindly donated for this year’s Lochinver RNLI fundraiser event."

Raffle tickets are now available to purchase at £5 for a strip of five tickets from Ms Stewart, Inver Lodge (opposite the Church of Scotland). A list of raffle prizes can be seen on the lifeboat’s social media page.
