Families and music lovers are being invited to go "on the Randan" this summer as the Easter Ross village of Portmahomack hosts its first ever "festival of music and cheer".

Carnegie Hall will be the location for the event – the first ever "Randan" festival – on Saturday July 8, with a "cracking" line-up of artists booked to appear.

The community-run event promises a mix of something for everyone. Children, young people and adults can look forward to live performances from the Mad Ferret Band, the Colatown Daisies and Rebecca Connelly, complemented by several local talents.

With festival food on offer throughout the day, the festival is planned to be an all-day event. The Tarbat Bistro & Bar will also be offering a next day "recovery breakfast" before festival goers are invited to visit the beach for a recuperative wellie toss competition.

Lead organiser Emma Foster said: “With limited tickets, The Randan will be an intimate festival bringing you a diverse mix of Americana, Folk n' Roll, high tempo folk, samba beats and '70s rock.

"Portmahomack’s festival not only has a superb line up but great food in a beautiful seaside location. You can make a weekend of it with events on the Sunday to give you a taste of the village’s hospitality and sense of fun."

Tickets are now available for £36 per person and can be purchased from the Carnegie Hall cafe in Portmahomack, via The Randan festival's Facebook page, or via the QR code on the event poster.

The new Randan festival is being hosted at Portmahomack's Carnegie Hall.
