POLICE have named the man who died in the motorcycle accident on a Ross-shire road on Friday and issued a fresh appeal for information.

Lionel Beresford (62), who was from Ardgay, died as a result of the accident on Friday afternoon at around 3.05pm.

Mr Beresford died after his motorbike came off the road on the A836 near Tain.

Officers are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the orange Honda motorbike, which was being driven from Ardgay towards Edderton.

Sergeant David Miller, of the Dingwall-based Highlands and Islands Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr Beresford’s family at this sad time.

“We would urge anyone who may have dash-cam footage showing the motorbike travelling between Ardgay and Edderton, or saw anything that may assist our enquiries to get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the road policing unit at Dingwall by calling 101 and quoting incident 2186 of Friday, March 6.
