National employer and skills organisations have joined together to help deliver a series of free events to help local businesses find out about apprenticeships.

A programme of webinars will take place from March 4-8 as part of Scottish Apprenticeship Week.

The online events will cover a range of topics to support taking on apprentices including the latest economic and skills data.

The sessions will also feature employers sharing their own experience of apprenticeship recruitment and how it’s benefited their businesses.

Scottish Apprenticeship Week is a nationwide celebration of apprenticeships, to recognise the benefits of work-based learning to people, employers and Scotland.

The theme for this year’s campaign is Skills Generation, recognising that apprenticeships create the skills every generation needs and every employer wants.

To kick off the Week, Scottish Chambers of Commerce and Skills Development Scotland will host an event on Monday, 6 March at 10am called Skills Generation with Apprenticeships.

The one hour webinar, delivered in association with the Federation of Small Businesses in Scotland and Scottish Training Federation, will share new insight from thousands of Scotland’s current and former apprentices.

The SDS research, which is gathered to make sure apprentices have a voice in the delivery of apprenticeships, will help employers understand the benefits and value apprentices bring to businesses.

Employers who are finalists in the Scottish Apprenticeship Awards will also feature at the Scottish Chambers of Commerce event, to explain how apprenticeship recruitment helps them to tackle workforce development and retention.

There will also be a series of 45 minute online sessions hosted on Microsoft Teams throughout the week, covering a range of topics to support apprenticeship recruitment, including Labour Market Intelligence, Apprenticeship Development, Inclusive Recruitment and the Just Transition to Net Zero.
