The one-year-old dog, which recently come into heat for the first time, went missing at lunch-time on Monday and Mr Groenhuijsen is desperate to find her and is currently out searching for her.

There is concern about her safety because stormy weather has led to the level of water rising in local rivers.

Reserve manager Innes MacNeill, who is helping search for the dog, said: "We don't know where she is and we are very worried. We thought she might have gone east as there are more dogs there and she has been walked in that area.

"She has come into season for the first time and that is probably the reason she has run away.

A post on the reserve’s Facebook page states: “To all our followers in the Ardgay/Bonar Bridge area, can you please keep an eye out for Logan?

“She is a Saarloos Wolfdog, currently in heat so most likely to be seen or found near other dogs. If you spot her, please give us a call on 01863-755338. Thank you for your help.”
