Achiltibuie youngsters share their vision for the future of the Highlands
Achiltibuie Primary School pupils have shared their ideas of what they would like the Highlands to look like in 2027.
The Our Future Highland survey asked Ross-Shire residents to tell Highland Council what their priorities are and to share their vision of how the region could look five years from now.
Needless to say some of the suggestions by Achiltibuie's younger residents were a lot more colourful than those likely to have been proposed by the region's adults!
Josh said:"I would like to see a toy shop, a roller-coaster, and more houses."
Pheobe, a P5 pupil, asked for a café "with a downstairs and an upstairs."
She added: "We need a café because it gets people to know each other."
Fellow pupils Iona said:"I would like more people to come to enjoy themselves."
Many Achiltibuie residents have been campaigning for new housing in the Coigach area.
The Coigach Community Development Company (CCDC) have been making plans to buy the former hydroponicum site for affordable community housing.
Currently in Achiltibuie, over 50 per cent of homes in Coigach are holiday lets, leaving young families struggling to find housing.
Rosie, aged 10, said her vision for 2027 in the Highlands is: "More houses, more people for our school. More cafés and public places, a doctor's or hospital, a sports centre and a toy shop!"
Angus said:"I would like closer shops so I could walk to them."
Rory, age 11, said:" I would like more people. The reason why I would like more people is because it would be good for the school."
