AN intimate Wester Ross venue has scooped the only Highland date of an acclaimed singer-songwriter's latest tour.

The Ceilidh Place in Ullapool said today it is delighted to host Horse McDonald’s only local date on her Flying Solo tour on October 12.

The venue declares itself equally thrilled with the artist's assertion that she “is thrilled to finally sing in my favourite places on the planet.”

Horse is the woman described by Q magazine as having "one of the finest voices of modern times, soul and intelligence combined".

She’s been writing and performing for over 30 years. From record deals with Capitol, MCA/Universal to her own label Randan, Horse has nine albums under her belt and many classic songs in her back catalogue, including the iconic song Careful, which was covered by Will Young.

She has toured many times in her own right throughout the UK and Europe, USA and Australia and opened for or toured with artists as varied as Tina Turner, Burt Bacharach and BB King.

Tickets for this gig are on sale at The Ceilidh Place reception 01854 612103.
