A major Highland road was fully closed for a period this evening following a four-vehicle collision in Easter Ross.

The accident at the Tain by-pass on the A9 was called in to police at 7.55pm.

One female suffered what police described as a minor injury.

One lane of the road has been since been reopened with what police describe as"slow-moving traffic" while the route is cleared of debris.

No further details of the vehicles involved have yet been revealed by police.
