A paper chain project giving people living in isolation during the coronavirus lockdown something creative to do could spawn a unique piece of public art to be pieced together once the crisis is over.

Behind the project is Ullapool art gallery An Talla Solais’s Dolphin group, which was set up five years ago under coordinator Anne-Marie Quinn to offer an outlet for people living with dementia.

The onset of the coronavirus pandemic led to the group going online and also sparked the idea of creating paper chains, which could be linked once the crisis is over. The project caught on and members of the wider community started to get involved.

The paper chain theme changes every week and already people have made Angels in the North, puppets and rag dolls. A weekly activity is posted on social media and through an email.

Ms Quinn told participants: “Once we are all able to be out and about again we hope to gather your artworks and celebrate what has happened behind closed doors.” Find out more at www.antallasolais.org/paperchain
