Local resident Linda Flett organised the dip in Scourie Bay on Monday, January 1.

And she was delighted with the turnout with around 17 hardy dookers plunging into the chilly waters, and others watching on.

Afterwards swimmers were able to warm up with hot sausage rolls, hot chocolate and Baileys.

Linda said it was a great way to welcome in 2024.

"It was a successful, fun event," she said, adding that she hoped it would be the start of a new tradition for Scourie with a Loony Dook being held at the turn of the year.

Local people were quick to comment on social media.

Aileen MacDonald said: "Well done to all the swimmers who took a dip in Scourie Bay on New Year's Day. It was a great community way to start the year," while Joan Broadley wrote: "Very brave and well done."
