Parts of Brora have been hit by a power cut after a fault on overhead lines supplying the Sutherland village.

Scottish and Southern Networks (SSEN) has sent engineers to the area to restore electricity to 23 homes.

The energy firm said the outage began at 5.59pm and it hopes to have power restored by 9pm.

An SSEN spokeswoman said: “This is affecting a large area and it is likely several streets are affected.

“We have engineers on their way and, once they arrive, they will get straight to work investigating the fault.

“The cause of this power cut is a fault on our overhead network.”
