Hundreds of people on the north coast of Caithness and Sutherland have been hit by power cuts.

One of the latest faults to blight Scottish and Southern Electricity Network (SSEN) lines has seen 301 properties in the Loch Eriboll area lose power.

The outage, reported at 11.40 am today, has hit Kinlochbervie and an area stretching from Durness to south and east of Loch Eriboll as far as residents in Altnaharra.

SSEN say they hope to restore power to the area by 4pm.
