Road users may want to avoid central Sutherland this Saturday and Sunday as 1000 cyclists make their way to John O'Groats via Bettyhill.

The cyclists are taking part in the Deloitte Ride Across Britain.

In total, cyclists will have cycled 980 miles from Land's End on September 7 – over 100 miles each day and some days will have sat for more than 12 hours in the saddle.

Tomorrow they will leave Inverness heading for the Kyle of Sutherland, over the Struie. On Sunday they will ride from the Kyle to Lairg and onto Bettyhill before their final goal of John o Groats.
