1 person dead after incident on Far North Line in Inverness
A person has been pronounced dead after an incident on the Far North Line on the outskirts of Inverness on Wednesday morning, police have confirmed.
The line was closed earlier on Wednesday after reports of a "casualty on the tracks" at around 7.20am.
Emergency services attended the scene, which is understood to be in the Clachnaharry area.
British Transport Police have since confirmed that one person has died.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Officers were called to the line near Inverness railway station at around 7.20am today (February 21) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The circumstances leading up to the incident are currently under investigation.”
The nature of the incident is not yet known and police have not revealed the age of the person who died, or if they are male or female.
The Far North Line has since reopened, with ScotRail announcing the resumption of services in a tweet shortly before 10.45am.
