Brora Rangers looking to bring in new signing to tackle injury problem in the squad
MANAGER Steven Mackay says he could bring in reinforcements to cover injuries within his squad before Brora Rangers face Inverurie Locos in their Highland League clash on Saturday.
The Cattachs’ are suffering a number of injuries in their squad, notably to left winger Ali Sutherland.
Mackay says he is in talks to bring in new players in time for their clash at Dudgeon Park on Saturday afternoon.
He is looking to get his team’s title defence back on track following their first league defeat of the campaign when they lost 3-0 to Fraserburgh at Bellslea Park.
The manager was hopeful that he would be able to bring in some new additions to the team in time for Saturday.
“We are looking, but it is a really tight market and there are not many opportunities at the moment to bring in players,” he said.
“We are pursuing some options though and hopefully we will have something in place for Saturday.
“We do have a few injuries which has been well documented. We do miss Ali Sutherland in the team, it is not until you take a player like him out of the squad you realise how important he is.
“He does the dirty side of the game really well and we need to get better at that without him.
“We were too open against Nairn as they were able to create a lot of chances.”
Brora Rangers bounced back from the 3-0 defeat at Fraserburgh last Saturday as they progressed to the quarter finals of the North of Scotland Cup with a 5-1 win at Nairn County.
A Tyler Eadie own goal gifted Brora the lead, but Nairn County levelled midway through the first half when Ben Kelly scored.
Brora regained the lead just on the stroke of half time when Jordan Macrae scored. Both teams had chances in the second half, but the Cattachs’ showed their dominance in the final 20 minutes. Tony Dingwall scored a hat-trick, finding his first in the 72nd minute before making it 4-1 six minutes later and his third in injury time.
The holders will continue their defence against Clachnacuddin in the quarter finals in Inverness on Wednesday, August 20.
