Made in Assynt community market at Lochinver Hall on Friday 10am-4pm.

Songs and Stories

Strathnaver Hall presents a family friendly evening of songs and stories with BBC award winning songwriter Adam Holmes on Friday 7pm. £10 (under 16s free); BYOB; refreshments and raffle.

Church Street Shuffle

Church Street Shuffle at the Ceilidh Place, Ullapool, on Friday 8.30pm. Contemporary fiddle and guitar duo Neil Ewart, Ardnamurchan, and Ali MacQuarrie, Inverness. Book on Ticketsource.

Tractor Run

Annual TrA8torsEUAnite memorial tractor run on Saturday, starting at Lochinver Harbour at 10am and returning to the harbour for a raffle and prize-giving at 4pm. A fundraiser for Macmillan Highland.

Mindfulness

Highland Mindfulness Group Slow Down Saturdays at the YMCA Building, Golspie, on Saturday 10.30am-12.30pm. A morning of mediation for body and mind. Over 18s; Beginners welcome. Suggested donation £5. Book by email: HighlandMindfulness@gmail. com

Community Cinema

Community Cinema at Timespan Museum and Arts Centre, Helmsdale on Saturday 11am-1pm. Films include Crofter’s Life in Shetland; St Kilda- Britain’s Loneliest Isle, and Evacuation of St Kilda. Free entry. Conversation afterwards from 2pm-3pm in the library lounge.

Rosehall Sale

Rosehall Church of Scotland is sponsoring a sale in Rosehall Village Hall on Saturday 12pm-2pm. Various stalls; raffle and games. Soup lunch £5 pp. All welcome.

GROWING WORKSHOP

The Highland Good Food Group is hosting a growing workshop between Tongue Village Hall and Tongue Primary School polytunnel on Saturday from 12.30pm. Find out what grows well in the north and how to grow what you like. All ages welcome. Turn up on the day.

Fiddle and accordion player Ruairidh Gollan from Edderton performs at Clynelish Distillery, Brora, on Saturday 2pm-4pm.

Talk

Rogart Heritage Society begins its new season of Craic & Ceilidh events with a talk by Audrey Munro, Helmsdale and Esther Macdonald, Portgower, in Pittentrail Hall on Saturday 7.30pm. Esther and Audrey will talk about the activities of two notable Land Leaguers with links to Rogart. Light refreshments, raffle and music.

Pipe Bands

Sutherland Caledonian Pipe Band street parade at Golspie tomorrow 7pm.

Dornoch Pipe Band’s final parade of the season at Dornoch Square tomorrow 8pm. Highland dancers and lone piper.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10

Guided Walk

Join the countryside ranger and a guide from the North West Highlands Geopark for a 5km guided walk to the Bone Caves at Inchnadamph on Tuesday 11am-2pm. Meet at the Bone Caves car park 4km south of Inchnadamph. Book on Eventbrite.

Lipreading taster session

Hearing and Sight Care lipreading and managing hearing loss taster class at the Dornoch Hub on Tuesday 4pm-6pm. Led by qualified tutor Debbie Miller. Places limited. Book via the link on the Dornoch Hub Facebook page or at the hub.

Talk

Tain & District Field Club AGM at the Duthac Centre on Tuesday 7pm. Following the AGM, Rob Brett of nature conservation charity Fauna & Flora International will give a talk entitled ‘Growing Rhinos in East and Southern Africa’. New members welcome.
