A pet lamb at Reiss in Caithness was looking a bit blue last Friday morning after her owner discovered a blue box of feed stuck firmly on her head as she pranced about the field.

Owner Bib Harrold flipped out her phone and shot a quick piece of video as she went to rescue the young female sheep that was trying to get any crumbs stuck in the corner of the feed box.

"It's a sheep thing," explained Bib who has pet sheep along with goats at her home in the Caithness countryside.

"They stick their heads in for food and sometimes when they lift their head up the bucket comes too."

The same lamb nearly died when she was just a couple of days old last year. She was named Take Two because she had a second chance at life.
The same lamb nearly died when she was just a couple of days old last year. She was named Take Two because she had a second chance at life.

She says that the lamb is named Take Two after she got a second chance at life when she was just two days old. "She was a twin that got left behind and I found her frozen on her side after a night of heavy rain when she was only two days old. I thawed her out in my kitchen. Cara [Young] then took her to Puffin Croft and bottle-fed her and I got her back."

Cara Young runs an animal petting farm at John O'Groats called Puffin Croft which featured in a Channel 5 documentary series with Ben Fogle in 2020. Cara named and looked after the little lamb along with some others from Bib. "Cara is such a good friend. When I was ill and struggling at lambing time she took my pet lambs away and bottle-fed them."

Bib says that every time Take Two sees a bucket she's straight into it. The young ewe is of course quite healthy after her box ordeal and will hopefully have some new friends to play with when lambing season gets underway.
