VJ Day 80 marked in Assynt with service and wreath-laying ceremony

The 80th anniversary of VJ Day (Victory in Japan) was marked yesterday in Assynt with a service and wreath-laying ceremony at the Lochinver War Memorial.

Organised by the Assynt branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland (RBLS), the event was attended by a number of local people.

Stuart McClelland led the service and laid a wreath on behalf of the Legion. Charlie Cowan was the piper.

Also in attendance were John Morgan, chairman of the Assynt branch, and David MacAskill, Deputy Lord Lieutenant.
