SSEN set to hold public consultation event next week over Strathy switching station project

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) is holding a public consultation event next week regarding its proposed 132kV Strathy Switching Station project.

The drop-in event will take place at Strathy Village Hall on Wednesday, August 20, from 3pm-7pm.

SSEN says that the switching station is required to provide a connection for a number of proposed and consented wind farms in the area.

An SSEN spokesperson said: “Our consultation includes information on our site selection and design process, the planning process and environmental and engineering considerations, as well as maps.

“We aim to provide stakeholders and community members with a clearer visual representation of the work on the project to date.

“We encourage all members of the local community and all interested parties to attend the event.

“Stakeholder engagement is vital in shaping our proposals and we need to harness local knowledge to identify challenges.”
