Post office to reopen in Brora at end of the month

An East Sutherland village is set to have an operational post office again by the end of the month, it has been announced.

Brora Village Store CIC, which is located on South Brae, will host the post office in its premises. The store stocks household supplies, gifts, and arts and crafts.

According to a post on the store’s social media, the post office will reopen on Thursday, August 28, at 1pm.

Brora formerly had a permanent, standalone post office on Rosslyn Street, but it closed when the Post Office changed its business model to operating out of retail environments.

In recent years, the post office has been hosted by the village’s Bridgend Premier Store, Kelpies Treasure, and Steps Emporium. However, these businesses have since closed down.

A mobile service was in place for three years with a post office van calling twice a week.

Brora Village CIC has announced that the post office will be open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and on Saturday from 10am to 3pm.

Staff have been undergoing post office training this week.
