Man released by police after 25-year-old found with fatal injuries in Aberdeen
A man has been released pending further inquiries after a 25-year-old man was found with fatal injuries on a street in Aberdeen.
Austin Ironside died in hospital two days after he was found injured on Skene Street at around 3.10pm on Sunday August 3.
He was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where he later died on Tuesday August 5. After a post-mortem examination, his death was deemed to be suspicious.
Detectives from Police Scotland’s major investigation team are leading the investigation into the death and appealed for information.
A 46-year-old man was arrested in connection with the death of Mr Ironside and on Tuesday, Police Scotland said he had been released “pending further inquiries”.
Austin was popular, with friends across the city, and would do anything to help others.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Extensive inquiries remain ongoing and officers are following a positive line of inquiry.”
Mr Ironside’s family paid tribute to him in a statement issued via Police Scotland.
They said: “Austin was popular, with friends across the city, and would do anything to help others.
“He was always smiling and his infectious laugh brought light into the lives of everyone who knew him.
“We are all devastated by what has happened and would like privacy at this terrible time.”
