Tain whisky guru Bill Lumsden marks top collaboration in creation of Beyoncé’s whisky SirDavis.
Glenmorangie’s own whisky royalty Bill Lumsden was involved in a star collaboration as he worked alongside Beyoncé to create the megastar’s first whisky, SirDavis.
A partnership between the global superstar and Moët Hennessy - the company behind Glenmorangie in Tain and Ardbeg on Islay - SirDavis is named in honour of Beyonce Knowels-Carter’s paternal grandfather, Davis Hogue, who was a farmer and moonshiner.
The whiskey is an American straight rye which takes inspiration from both Scotch and Japanese whisky and is “proudly finished, blended, and bottled in Texas”.
The whisky is the first launch for the Davis Hogue Distilling Company, a new 50/50 joint venture between Moët Hennessy and Knowles-Carter.
Mr Lumsden was chosen to guide the creation of the whisky, which has a mash bill of 51per cent rye to 49 per cent malted barley
He said: "I think together we've risen to something that I'm hugely excited about. And I think whisky drinkers are going to be blown away because it's really quite different from anything I've tasted before."
On the brand’s website, Knowles-Carter is quoted: “I’ve always been drawn to the power and confidence I feel when drinking quality whisky and wanted to invite more people to experience that feeling.”
SirDavis will be officially available from September 4.
