Black Isle Show 2025 gets underway thanks to graft from organisers
THE president of the Black Isle Show says we are “lucky to have a show this year” after setbacks from Storm Floris earlier this week.
The Black Isle Show is one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the year, not just for farmers, crofters and agricultural businesses but also generations of locals who look forward to a family friendly day out.
It started yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) at the Mannsfield Showground in Muir of Ord.
Show president Tom Henderson said: “We had a lot of preparation throughout the year, but one thing we cannot prepare for is the weather. On Monday, one of the key days for setting up for the show, we followed health and safety guidelines and closed the show field.”
The well-heralded Storm Floris, which created chaos across much of Ross-shire and left thousands without electricity, knocked the finely tuned logistical plan for six on Monday with set-up work essentially abandoned on health and safety grounds.
Tom continued: “So on Tuesday, the whole team pulled all the stops out, took a big shift on Tuesday and Wednesday morning too. We are lucky to have a show this year, it’s a testament to their hard work.
“I am delighted to be here, and we have a great show in store. There really is something to see and do for everyone. I class it as the ultimate family day out. Plan your day to get the most out of it, have a look at the programme for the show.”
