A9 closed between Latheron and Georgemas in Caithness after crash involving car and motorcycle

The A9 in Caithness is currently closed in both directions due to a collision involving a car and a motorcycle.

Traffic Scotland shared on its website that the trunk road was closed after the crash this morning between Latheron and Georgemas, with emergency services in attendance.

Motorists are advised to use the diversion route in place via Wick on the A99 and A882, and expect delays on their journey.

The incident is just north of Tacher, where temporary traffic lights are in place due to emergency roadworks.

A police spokesperson said: “The A9 is closed between the A99, Latheron, and the Smerral Junction following a collision involving a car and a motorcycle which happened around 9.45am on Sunday, 10 August.

”Emergency services are at the scene and a diversion is in place.”
