A9 closed south of Inverness in the Newtonmore area after multi-vehicle crash

A ‘multi-vehicle’ crash has closed the A9 near Newtonmore.

Emergency services are at the scene but the severity of the accident is not yet known.

Motorists are being advised by Traffic Scotland to avoid the area.

The accident was reported to Traffic Scotland at around 5:25pm.

A spokesman for the organisation said: “The A9 is closed in both directions at Newtonmore due to a road traffic incident. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route and should allow extra time for their journey.”

Emergency services have been contacted for further details.
