What does timetable to lift restrictions on sport mean?

The Scottish Government have announced how restrictions will be lifted on sport in the next three months.

Outdoor contact sport can start on May 17.

First Minister Nicola Strugeon has confirmed all outdoor contact sport and indoor group sport will be able to resume on Monday, May 17.

However, all outdoor contact sport for 12 to 17-year-olds can resume on Monday, April 5.

Gyms can open for individual exercise on Monday, April 26.

Indoor non-contact sports are able to start from early June but no information on indoor contact sports such as boxing and martial arts.

At present only non contact outdoor sports for 12 to 17 year olds are permitted by the Scottish Government.

However, elite level sport has been given exemptions which are subject to governing bodies.

Summary

April 5 - Outdoor contact sport for 12 to 17-year-olds can resume.

April 26 - Gyms can open for individual exercise.

May 17 - Outdoor contact sport and indoor group exercise can resume.

Early June - Indoor non contact sport can start.
