You could be forgiven for thinking you are catching up on the tennis scores when it comes to Lairg Rovers’ outing at Melvich on Saturday, with the visiting side finishing 15–0 at the end of an entirely one sided affair.

The game was a bogey by half time with Lairg cruising by five goals and the floodgates well and truly opened upon the restart.

Referee Sol Makhouli penned the name Mackay on his scorecard no fewer than seven times as namesakes Adam and Miller bagged the most for Lairg, scoring four and three goals respectively.

The rest of the goals came via Andy Macrae, Lyle Mackay, Korbyn Cameron, Kane Cameron, Craig Ross, Joe Sutherland and an own goal.

Even goalkeeper Ryan Renwick got in on the action with a conversion from the penalty spot.

The win puts Rovers in pole position at the top of the North West Sutherland Amateur League, two points clear of their nearest rivals.

Dornoch and Helmsdale United served up a fiercely contested 3–3 draw at the Meadows as both teams finished with 10 men.

The visitors were 3–1 up at one stage thanks to goals from Kevin Cairns, Dani Lamborena and Ally MacRae with Finn As-Chainey netting in response for Dornoch.

A second half fightback saw As-Chainey score a second and with 10 minutes to go, Ruben Aitchison brought the scores level.

The game ended in controversial fashion with Colin Macrae seeing red for Helmsdale, and Dornoch’s Scott Smith given his marching orders moments after.

At Stafford Park, Golspie Stafford got off the mark with their first league win of the season, beating Lochinver 3–1.

Owen Harrold scored a double with Mark Mackenzie also finding the net for Golspie Stafford.

Daniel Hutchison scored in reply for Lochinver.

In the other game of the day, Lochbroom made easy work of Ross-shire rivals Inver as the cruised to a 5–0 victory in Ullapool.

Man of the match Stuart Mackay scored a hat trick with Ben Bruce and Connor Macleod also finding the net in the win.
