Tain golfer wins at Royal Dornoch Golf Club

Billy Ferries came out on top in the latest round of the North Golf Winter Alliance at Royal Dornoch Golf Club on Sunday.

The Tain golfer was victorious at the Sutherland links when he hit an 83 to take the top prize.

It was his first win of the alliance season after finishing runner-up in the first two rounds.

In the category one section for golfers with handicaps of nine and under, Dave Mackay, of Portmahomack, claimed top prize with a nett score of 81.

He was one shot ahead of Doug Mackenzie, of Reay, who claimed second place with an 82.

In the category two section for golfers of handicaps between 10 and 28, Billy McBain, of Durness, came out on top. His nett score of 70 gave him victory by six shots over Alisdair McCowan, of Durness.

In the ladies competition, Angela Grant, from Brora, won with a nett score of 84. She was six shots ahead of Hazel Alderson, from Golspie.
