Tain golfer Billy Ferries wins Alliance fixture over Wick golfer Dougie Thorburn thanks to better inward half at Golspie

TAIN golfer Billy Ferries claimed victory in the latest round of the North Winter Golf Alliance held at Golspie Golf Club.

However, he only took the title thanks to a better inward half after being tied after 18 holes on 75 with Dougie Thorburn from Wick.

Caithness golfers dominated the other categories of the competition with Jim Meiklejohn from Reay winning the category one section for handicaps up to nine.

Allan Craig from Thurso won the category two section for handicaps between 10 and 28.

Eleanor Tunn from Reay Golf Club won the ladies section of the competition.
