Golspie Sutherland take on Bunilldh Thistle as derby day signals return of North Caledonian League after winter break





GOLSPIE Sutherland and Bunillidh Thistle are set to clash in a Sutherland derby on Saturday as the North Caledonian League is set to resume after its winter break.

The two teams, who are at opposite ends of the table, are set to play against each other at King George V Park with kick-off at 1pm.

Golspie Sutherland are in title contention this season after a good start to the first half of the campaign. They are in third place in the league on 33 points.

They are nine points behind current league leaders Halkirk United, but do have two games in hand.

Bunillidh Thistle have found their return to the North Caledonian League tough in their comeback season.

They are bottom of the table on four points, but are only one point behind Clachnacuddin A and two points behind Thurso.

They will have been encouraged by some results before the winter break, which included a 2-2 draw with St Duthus as well as beating Thurso 2-0.

Bonar Bridge are also set to return to action tomorrow when they travel to Tain to face St Duthus.

The Migdale outfit have already beaten their points total of last season as they look a much improved team this season.

They are currently in ninth place on 14 points.

Elsewhere in the North Caledonian League, it is derby day across the counties. In Caithness, Thurso are set to take on Halkirk United at The Dammies.

In Ross-shire, Alness United are set to face Invergordon and in North Kessock, Inverness Athletic are set to take on Clachnacuddin A in the Inverness derby.
