Brora Rangers demand for success is what attracted new signing to club
Aidan Wilson says he shares Brora Rangers’ ambition of league and cup success as he wants to play a part in firing them to another winning campaign.
The 24-year-old centre forward became the Cattachs’ first signing of the new season as they look towards defending their Highland League crown.
Wilson, who previously played on loan at Brora in 2018 while coming through the youth academy at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, arrives at Dudgeon Park after playing with Inverurie Locos last season.
Brora Rangers made history after claiming a clean sweep of SHFL trophies last season, which included the Highland League, Highland League Cup and North of Scotland Cup.
Wilson, who works as a greenkeeper in Nairn, says the demands at Brora Rangers is what has attracted him to the club, and is looking to help them meet their goals.
He said: “The manager approached me when he knew that I was available and it was a quick turnaround. He messaged me on a Friday and when we spoke, we had everything wrapped up on the Monday.
“Everything came pretty quick and I was happy to get the deal done. He said he wants to give me a chance and it is up to me if I can take it.
“I know that it is a competitive team and that I am going into the squad with the likes of Jordan Macrae and Shane Sutherland. I believe I can get into the team and the chances will come about to score some goals.”
After his loan period finished at Brora Rangers in 2018, Wilson went on to sign for Rothes in 2019 and spent five years where he achieved trophy success.
He was part of the squad which won the Highland League Cup in the 2019-20 season and the North of Scotland Cup in the 2021-22 season.
He then spent last season at Inverurie Locos and says he believes he can win more trophies with Brora Rangers.
He said: “It is every player’s ambition to win things.
“You never know how long your career is going to be and the target is always to get some silverware.
“The icing on the cake would be to win the league and get promotion with Brora. I don’t think you can get much better than that.
“Winning the Highland League Cup and North of Scotland Cup with Rothes was fantastic. I had some really good times there and some good times at Locos.
“Hopefully I can add those good times from there to the Brora side.”
Wilson is no stranger with the current Brora squad having trained with them in Inverness while he was an Inverurie player. He is now looking forward to showing what he can do.
“I trained the whole last season on a Tuesday, I knew the boys well so it was easy transition. I can’t wait to get going and hopefully it comes sooner rather than later.”
