AROUND 60 members and friends of Golspie Golf Club enjoyed an entertaining night in the clubhouse on Saturday to honour one of its stalwarts.

Sheila Robertson was awarded a lifetime membership for her invaluable contribution to the club.

In presenting her with her lifetime certificate, Captain William MacBeath spoke of the endless hours which Sheila devotes to the club, whether coaching juniors, attending to the flower beds, behind the bar, organising events – or even winning championships!

She joined just two other members who had life time memberships – Robert Beaton and Donny Jack.

In a witty speech, Dicky Mackay also praised her efforts, including some previously unknown facts about her!

Sheila in turn thanked members and explained she had learned much of the ethos of volunteering from her parents.

Sheila was presented with a bouquet of flowers by her great nieces, Heidi and Eve, who were surprise visitors on the night.
