The 21-year-old arrived at Dudgeon Park from Rothes this week to play for the club his dad Peter Gunn did during his career.

Gunn from Wick, says his dad was delighted when he decided to sign for his former club and will play on the right wing like he used to for the Cattachs.

“He is particularly delighted that I have signed for Brora Rangers as he used to play for the club,” he said.

“He keeps telling me that he is a Brora Rangers legend and that I have a lot to live up to.

“Like me, he was actually a right-winger as well, so I am trying to follow in his footsteps.”
Gunn says he is pleased to have joined Brora Rangers, who tried to secure his services during the middle of last season while he was at Rothes.

He is pleased to have made the move to Dudgeon Park, saying the ambition they have of becoming Highland League champions, as well as looking to win promotion to League Two is what made him decide Brora was the right move for him.

“Brora Rangers have a great chance of winning the league and they are always competitive,” said Gunn.

“I see moving to the club as a great chance to win trophies.

“Winning the league and promotion to League Two was a big thing for me in making my decision.

“I think we can win the league this season and definitely go far.

“There seems to be a good core in the team.”

Gunn came through the Inverness Caledonian Thistle Academy and went to Fort William on loan in 2019 before signing for Rothes in 2020.

He spent two seasons at the Speyside club helping them win the Highland League Cup and North of Scotland Cup in a successful period for Rothes.

But Gunn felt the time was right for him to leave Mackessack Park and head to Brora.

“I enjoyed my time at Rothes, but last season I felt I could have had more game time than what I was given.

“However, I was involved in two cup wins so I can’t complain too much about my time there.

“It was time for a fresh start, there was a point at Christmas last season where I was trying to get a move to Brora.

“But it did not work out as unfortunately Rothes would not allow it.

“I did start games towards the end of last season, but I felt it was time for a fresh start.”

“Now I am looking forward to challenging for the league and going for cups.”

Brora Rangers start their league campaign against Keith tomorrow and Gunn wants a positive start.

“Keith is never an easy place to go, but if we want to win the league, we have to beat teams like them.

“We have to win the games we’re supposed to and then see where that takes us against the big teams.”
