Stafford exited the competition at the quarter final stage after losing 4–3 on penalties after it was 3–3 after extra time.

HOH took the lead in the 15th minute through Ben Gordon but Stafford were level on the half hour mark through Robbie Murray’s angled drive after Shaun Urquhart’s thunderbolt came off the underside of crossbar.

Sam Mackay put Staffs 2-1 up on the stroke of half time with a header from a Gary Pullen corner.

HOH levelled five minutes after the break in a counter attack which Gordon finished off for his second goal.

HOH went ahead midway through the first period of extra time through Stuart Campbell.

But Stafford equalised when Paul Cowie connected with a Pullen cross to equalise to bring the game to penalties.

Despite losing the shoot-out, Campbell says his team will come back stronger next season.

Manager Ewen Campbell praised his team despite the defeat.

“This young Stafford side did myself and our massive support proud and we will be back.”

High Ormlie Hotspur will face holders Wick Groats in the semi final after they defeated IRN Security 4–0 at Ardersier.

Ross-shire outfit Avoch were knocked out of the tournament after suffering a 2–1 defeat to Ness in Lewis.

Ness will face Dunnet outfit Pentland United who suffered a scare when they had to come from 3–1 down to beat Stromness Athletic 5–3.

Helmsdale United remain top of the North West Sutherland League as they defeated Dornoch City 3–0 last week.

Helmsdale claimed all three points at Couper Park thanks to two goals from Billy Cairns with Paul Gordon also scored.

The win keeps them a point ahead of Lairg Rovers who were awarded a 4-0 win after their scheduled opponents Melvich were unable to fulfil the fixture.

Inver moved sixth with a 5–4 win over Lochbroom. Jack Corbett scored twice for Inver with Jordan Hailes, Bruce Urquhart and Johnie Beattie also scoring. Lochbroom replied through a Robert Macrae double, Shaun Marshall and Ben Bruce.
