MacKay turns hat-trick hero for rampant Rangers

BRORA Rangers maintained their impressive start to the campaign despite having to come from a goal down against Fort William at Dudgeon Park last Saturday.

After the loss of an early goal Brora rattled in six without reply, including a hat-trick from captain Steven MacKay, as they notched up their eighth straight league win.

Fort shocked the home side when they took the lead after just five minutes. Former Brora player Gary Farquhar was the player on target with a back-post tap-in.

However, Brora were soon in gear and MacKay levelled six minutes later after he linked with Zander Sutherland in the build-up.

Brora forged ahead shortly afterwards when Ryan Ross netted then MacKay scored again to make it 3-1 after an Andrew Greig shot was parried.

The goals kept coming and MacKay completed his hat-trick when he headed home following a Richie Hart corner.

Brora defender Ross Tokely got in on the act just before the break when he headed home his side’s fifth goal.

Hart scored the only goal of the second period with a vicious free kick as Brora took their foot off the pedal.

Brora – Malin, Hind, D MacKay, Tokely, Houston, Morrison, R Ross, R Hart, Baxter, S MacKay, Greig.

Tomorrow Brora host Cove Rangers in the second round of the Scottish Cup – kick-off 3pm.
