Lady Luck deserts Dudgeon Park

LADY luck failed to shine on Brora Rangers as they conceded two bizarre first half goals despite dominating for long spells at Dudgeon Park last Saturday.

Lossie took the lead in the 18th minute when an attempted clearance from Brora defender Gordon Finlayson struck team-mate Stuart Golabek in the back and looped over goalkeeper Shaun McCarthy into the back of the net.

The visitors doubled their advantage seven minutes later when McCarthy’s goal kick only reached as far as Ross Archibald. The Lossie player drove forward and tucked the ball beyond the unfortunate keeper.

To their credit Brora kept plugging away and Golabek was desperately unlucky with a free kick which rebounded off the crossbar. Liam Baxter broke free from his marker shortly afterwards but he failed to beat Lossie keeper Darren McConnachie.

Brora continued to dominate after the break but were unable to break down a stubborn Lossie side who were content to hold on to their two-goal cushion.

Brora Rangers — McCarthy, Finlayson, MacLean, Moir, Gibb, Golabek, Lawrie, MacKintosh, Kerr, MacKay, Baxter (MacLeod 80). Unused subs – J MacKay, Munro, Ross, Martin.

TOMORROW (Saturday) Brora travel to play Strathspey Thistle at Seafield Park, Grantown-on-Spey – kick-off 3pm.
