The former Wick Academy midfielder will replace Andrew Banks who stood down from the position earlier this week.

Mackay, who comes from Golspie, joined his hometown club at the start of the season.

A statement from Golspie Sutherland confirmed Mackay will be in charge for the remainder of the 2020/21 campaign.

It said: "Sam Mackay will take the reigns for the remainder of the season.

"We thank him for that and look forward to seeing him make his mark on the team. Starting against Nairn Under-20s in the cup next Saturday."

Golspie Sutherland have been forced to postpone their match at Orkney tomorrow after being unable to field a team.
