Five star Brora back to winning ways as they prepare for Inverurie
BRORA Rangers returned to winning ways as they thrashed Nairn County 5-1 at Station Park on Tuesday night as they prepare to host Inverurie Locos at Dudgeon Park on Saturday.
After going down to a shock 3-2 defeat to Keith at Dudgeon Park last Saturday and losing their position at the top of the table, the Cattachs responded in devastating fashion in Nairn this week.
Brora Rangers took the lead after five minutes when James Wallace got on the end of a cross from Max Ewan to fire home at the back post.
Tony Dingwall doubled Brora Rangers’ advantage in the 12th minute when he dispossessed a defender and then managed to fire a shot past goalkeeper Dylan Mackay.
Nairn County pulled one back in the 23rd minute when Ben Barron beat the Brora defence in the air to fire home a corner kick as the two teams went into the break at 2-1.
Brora restored their two goal advantage 10 minutes into the second half when Ewan drove into the box before firing past the goalkeeper.
Michael Finnis made it 4-1 in the 63rd minute when he scored a diving header from a Craig Mackenzie cross.
The rout was compete when Dingwall grabbed his second of the match when he thumped a volley from a Ewan cross into the back of the net.
It is Brora’s fifth win in six games and they will be looking to continue their fine form as they are set to host a massive game against Inverurie Locos at Dudgeon Park tomorrow.
Elsewhere in the Highland League on Saturday, Highland League champions Buckie Thistle are set to take on title favourites Brechin City in arguably the match of the day at Victoria Park.
Wick Academy face a tough clash as they take on Banks O’Dee at Harmsworth Park.
Deveronvale are set to take on Clachnaucddin at Princess Royal Park in Banff. Fomartine United take on Keith at North Lodge Park in Pitmedden. Forres Mechanics are set to take on Nairn County at Mosset Park. Huntly take on Rothes at Christie Park. Strathspey Thistle will face Lossiemouth in Grantown on Spey and Turriff United take on Fraserburgh at The Haughs.
