More than 120 runners took part in the recent Golspie road races organised by East Sutherland Athletics Club – and once again it was the junior athletes who dominated the competition on behalf of the host club.

Anya Morrison took gold in the 3K for primary girls with a superb course record of 11.03 and with silver going to Rosie Milligan, bronze to Layla Morrison, and fourth place to Nikki Bryan, it was a clean sweep for the ESAC girls.

The race for primary boys produced a similar result for the East Sutherland team, with James Forbes taking gold, Josh Anderson silver and Donald Forbes bronze.

Eve Gardiner took gold for Inverness Harriers by winning the 3K for secondary girls in a time of 11.52. Rachel Ross and Heather Anderson claimed silver and bronze respectively for ESAC.

Ben Cameron from Forres won the equivalent race for secondary boys with an excellent time of 10.30 and it was silver and bronze again for East Sutherland thanks to Sam Bryan and John Anderson.

Athletes from Inverness Harriers were in great form in the 10K race, winning both male and female titles.

John Newsom recorded a time of 32.15 to finish more than a minute clear of his rivals and Gemma Cormack was the first lady in 37.47.

Seventeen year old Fraser Roach was the top ESAC runner on the day, finishing fourth overall, first under 20 and first local male, in a new personal-best time of 35.12.
