East Sutherland Athletics Club win team bronze at North Cross Country League

East Sutherland Athletics Club travelled to Evanton last week to compete in the second round of the North Cross Country League.

The East Sutherland Under–11 boys finished on the podium as they claimed the team bronze medal.

There was also success for Reuben Urquhart who claimed the individual bronze medal finishing in third place with a time of six minutes and 28 seconds.

He was 19 seconds behind race winner Owen Mathis–Foot from Inverness Harriers.

There was also good support from Ryan Mackay ninth, George Milligan 16th and Morris Scamen 17th.

In the equivalent race for girls, Annabel Scamen was in fine form and finished strongly in ninth place.

Maisie Lennox did well to take 17th, in the race for under-13 girls, and Eilidh Fisher battled her way to 11th, in the under-15 race.

The ESAC women’s team comprised entirely of veteran athletes, led by Rebecca Nankivell (2nd Vet 50), Wendy Milligan (3rd Vet 50) Audrey Scott (5th Vet 50) and Debbie Macdonald (1st Vet 60).

In the men’s race, Alasdair Coupar worked hard throughout, and finished in 11th place .

Athletes from East Sutherland Athletics Club competed against teams from Inverness, Ross County, Moray, Forres, Nairn and Stornoway.
