Edinburgh Marathon sees East Sutherland Athletics Club athlete finish in fourth place





East Sutherland Athletics Club runner Shaun Cumming finished in fourth place at the Edinburgh Marathon as he met his goal of finishing in the top five.

The runner, who is from Inverness, claimed fourth place in a time of two hours 27 minutes and 28 seconds.

The men’s race was won by Marshall Smith in a time of 2:22:16 with Ben Holmes second in 2:26:14 and Kris Lecher was third in 2:26:57.

Dougie Selman who won the 2022 Loch Ness Marathon, when Cumming finished in third place, finished in fifth place at Edinburgh in a time of 2:28:08.

Cumming improved upon his seventh place at the Edinburgh Marathon from last year when he finished in 2:28.

Cumming is now preparing for the Loch Ness Marathon in September and looking to go one better after finishing in second place in 2024.

In the women’s race, two-time Loch Ness Marathon champion Melissah Gibson claimed victory in Edinburgh in a time of 2:38:42.

Kirsty Oldham was in second place in a time of 2:45:30 with Emily Soanes in third place in 2:46:58.
