Brora Rangers’ pair of islanders Andrew MacLeod and George Robesten recalled from loans at Dudgeon Park by parent club Ross County
Brora Rangers duo Andrew MacLeod and George Robesten have been recalled from their loan spells at Dudgeon Park by parent club Ross County.
Stornoway native MacLeod was in his second spell with the Cattachs, having also previously spent time in the Highland League with Nairn County and Clachnacuddin.
Meanwhile Robesten, who was discovered while playing in Shetland, had also previously turned out for Nairn and Clach, but was competing at the top of the division for the first time with Brora.
Both 19-year-olds made their first team debuts for Ross County before heading out to Brora, and Staggies boss Don Cowie believes each man has outgrown the Highland League - not ruling out giving them a chance to impress in Dingwall for the rest of this season.
“They come back into the squad and we will evaluate things as the month goes on,” Cowie explained.
“Do they stay and be part of our squad for the rest of the season, or do we look to get them into the SPFL for experience at first team level.
“They are challenging every day they are at this football club. We have eyes on them all the time and are seeing how well they are progressing, and what they are capable of, on a daily basis.
“I want them to be here to play for Ross County. I don't want them to be here to be the 21st or 22nd man on a Saturday. These are the decisions we need to make for their future and to keep them progressing.”
“Brora has been a great option for them. They are local to us, they compete at the top of the Highland League and I know their manager really well.
“They’ve got a really good team, as we know from having played them over the last couple of years.
“We felt that it was important for them to play, even if it meant going back to the Highland League, but we feel they are beyond that now and that’s why we have recalled them.
“They are the future of the football club, so we need to push them and see how we can get them involved in the first team.”
