BRORA Rangers suffered a heavy defeat at the Kilmac Stadium as Dundee ran riot in the Premier Sports Cup group stage clash.
The defeat means the Sutherland club’s hopes of progressing to the last 16 looks dead and buried.
Dundee dominated the opening 45 minutes and should have scored early when Jordan McGhee sent through Paul McMullan who drove into the box but missed the target.
But they broke the deadlock when Paul McMullan's cross eventually found its way to Paul McGowan who fired home from close range midway through the first half.
Dundee doubled their advantage nine minutes from half time as a great run down the left wing from Charlie Adam saw his cross find McMullan in the six yard box to fire home.
Brora Rangers had a chance to pull one back just before half time when Gregor MacDonald sent a great ball through to Andrew Macrae who beat the offside trap. But his shot was well saved by Adam Legzdins.
Dundee killed the game off at the start of the second half with two goals in the first six minutes.
The third came from Adam's cross from the left wing which found Paul McMullan whose low drive beat goalkeeper Grant Beattie into the bottom left corner. first six minutes.
Two minutes later, McMullan's cross found Alex Jakubiak in the six yard box unchallenged as he fired past Beattie to seal all three points for Dundee.
Finlay Robertson could have made it five with a great effort from 20-yards out which was well saved by Beattie.
Jason Cummings also went close to making it 5-0 in the closing stages when he saw his shot from outside the box hit the crossbar.
Brora Rangers face Forfar Athletic at Dudgeon Park on Saturday before hosting Ross County next Wednesday.
