HIGHLAND League champions Brora Rangers fell to a 3–0 defeat against Montrose in the opening group stage match of the Premier Sports Cup.

The Cattachs found themselves 2–0 down after 22 minutes after conceding twice in the space of 120 seconds.

Martin Rennie opened the scoring after connecting with a cross from the wing to tap home from close range.

Blair Lyon doubled Montrose's advantage two minutes later as he managed to find a way through the Brora defence before firing home.

Montrose sealed all three points in injury time when Lewis Milne scored from the penalty spot.

Brora Rangers head to Dundee on Tuesday night.
