Brora Rangers have implemented wage cuts due to coronavirus pandemic.

BRORA Rangers have announced it has implemented substantial wage cuts on management and players as a result of the shutdown of Scottish football.

The Highland League champions have placed all of their players on furlough in response to the impact of the coronavirus.

The club, along with others across Scotland, have suffered a severe curtailment of operating income which has had an effect on its cash flow and liquidity.

Club chairman William Powrie said he and manager Steven Mackay had discussions with the players about the club's situation who agreed with the announcement.

He said: "Steven, his management team and all our players were very responsive to the financial challenges that the club are facing into.

"We were very transparent in outlining the current very difficult position that we find ourselves in, and they responded in the most uplifting of ways.”

Team captain, Joe Malin said the players accepted the wage cut saying they appreciated the current situation.

“The management team and players unanimously agreed that it was the right thing to do," he said.

"We all have to pull together in the current situation and do what we can to protect the future of our club.”
